The mission of Contra Costa Health (CCH) is to care for and improve the health of all people in the county with special attention to those who are most vulnerable to health problems and eliminating health disparities. The Contra Costa Health budget is just over $4 billion and is currently staffed by 4,824.03 full-time equivalent (FTE) positions. The Director of Health Services is appointed by and works closely with the Board of Supervisors but reports directly to the County Administrator. The Director of Health Services is a key executive within Contra Costa County and within the healthcare community and is responsible for the development, operation, coordination, integration, and implementation of the County`s health services and public health functions, including Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and all its acute inpatient, psychiatric service and ambulatory care health centers, Behavioral Health Division, Detention Health Services, Emergency Medical Services, Environmental Health, Contra Costa Health Plan and the County`s Hazardous Materials Division.
