The Yuba Water Agency is a stand-alone public agency governed by a board of seven elected officials to serve the people of Yuba County. Established by a special act of the California State Legislature in 1959, the agency’s primary missions are flood risk reduction, water supply reliability, fish habitat protection and enhancement, hydroelectric generation, and recreation at New Bullards Bar. Yuba Water Agency is committed to the sustainable management of water resources for flood risk reduction and reliable water supply, enabled through power generation, in support of the environment and quality of life for the community. The Agency is seeking a collaborative, solution-oriented professional who will establish positive working relationships with staff and the community as its next General Counsel. The ideal candidate is a forward-facing, strategic thinker who serves as an organizational asset through flexible and creative problem solving.
Qualified candidates possess a Juris Doctorate from an American Bar Association or California State accredited law school, an active membership in good standing in the State Bar of California, and seven (7) to ten (10) years of increasingly responsible experience in municipal law including three (3) years of management responsibility. Three (3+) years of experience with the California water code and public contract code is highly desirable.
The annual salary range for the General Counsel is $254,009.60 - $376,126.40. Placement within this range is dependent on experience and qualifications. Yuba Water Agency also offers an excellent benefits package.
