The City of Calistoga, known as the “Crown of Napa Valley”, is located at the northern end of the Napa Valley, 75 miles from San Francisco. A serene valley nestled among beautiful mountains; Calistoga has all the charm of a small town while possessing that expected level of sophistication associated with world-class tourist destinations. The Calistoga Fire Department responds to fires, public safety and medical emergencies, and natural disasters to protect the lives and property of nearly 7,000 Calistoga residents who live within the city limits. The Department also responds automatically to emergencies in both Napa and Sonoma Counties. Under administrative direction from the City Manager, the Fire Chief is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and providing administrative direction and oversight for all functions and activities of the Fire Department. The Calistoga Fire Chief also serves as the Fire Marshall.

The City of Calistoga is seeking a strong leader and experienced fire management professional to serve as its new Fire Chief. The ideal candidate will be an innovative, compassionate, approachable, and genuine leader with a hands-on approach who understands fire service traditions, small towns, and works well with the community. The City is looking for a Fire Chief who listens intently, collaborates, and who possesses strong experience in the area of emergency services. The Calistoga community is well engaged, and as one of the highly visible representatives of the City and members of the City’s Executive Team, the incoming Fire Chief should expect to interact with community members, local and regional elected officials, and industry on a regular basis. The Department will benefit from a Chief who leads by example, rolls up their sleeves, fosters an open and collaborative working environment, and takes a proactive stance to resolving issues. The incoming Chief should be capable of managing the Department’s staff so that a strong culture toward public service, teamwork, and the achievement of desired results is maintained.

The salary range for the Fire Chief position is $196,284 – $238,584; placement within this range is dependent on qualifications and experience.
