The City of Milpitas is located at the southern tip of the San Francisco Bay and is an integral part of Silicon Valley in California. The City of Milpitas is home to a progressive, industrious, and well-educated community with a very diversified population of nearly 84,000. The City features quality schools, conveniently located neighborhood parks and shopping centers, and a multitude of outstanding recreational opportunities, including aquatics, cultural arts and theater, sports leagues and activity programming, and senior activities and services. The City is seeking a creative, collaborative, and team-oriented Deputy City Manager. The ideal candidate is a patient leader who is approachable and welcoming. A politically astute candidate with the ability to concisely present information to Council and the public will do well. The successful candidate is flexible and has the ability to think outside of the box using their ability to build relationships with the department heads and the Assistant City Manager, as well as work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment. Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public administration, business administration, or a related field, and seven (7) years of increasingly responsible administrative experience involving contract interpretation and applying government regulations. An advanced degree is highly desirable.

The annual salary range for the Deputy City Manager is $196,753.96 - $275,341.30; placement within this range is dependent on qualifications and experience.
