The City of Hayward (estimated population 162,945) is located in Alameda County, on the eastern shore of the San Francisco Bay, 25 miles southeast of San Francisco, 14 miles south of Oakland, 26 miles north of San Jose, and 10 miles west of the Livermore Valley. Encompassing 61 square miles that unfold from the Berkeley-Oakland Hills onto the Bay shoreline, Hayward is strategically positioned at the epicenter of a metropolitan area synonymous with innovation, bold thinking, and entrepreneurship. The City of Hayward is seeking a well-rounded, seasoned, forward-thinking, and collaborative Human Resources Director. The ideal candidate will support the team, advocate for staff, and will have the ability to deal constructively with conflict and develop a consensus. A candidate with a spirit of innovation and high emotional intelligence will be successful. The new Human Resources Director must have a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and must have the ability to lead and shape the culture of the organization. Qualified candidates for the Human Resources Director position possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major study in business, public or personnel administration, or a related field, and eight (8) years of experience in all phases of a public personnel program, including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity. The salary range for the Human Resources Director is $198,660.80 to $241,425.60. Placement within this range is dependent on experience and qualifications.
