The SFPUC provides top quality drinking water and wastewater services to the city of San Francisco, wholesale water to three Bay Area counties, and green hydroelectric and solar power to San Francisco’s municipal departments. SFPUC’s diverse workforce of 2,300 employees work across eight counties and serve more than 2.7 million customers in the San Francisco Bay Area – 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. The SFPUC is seeking an effective and resilient servant leader to serve as its next Assistant General Manager, Business Services/Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Under the direction of the General Manager, the CFO leads and manages the fiscal strategy and Business Services divisions of the SFPUC. The ideal candidate will be a consummate financial professional with an intelligent and strategic vision for the future of the SFPUC. The minimum qualifications for this position are a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferably with major coursework in public administration, finance, economics, or a closely related field; and six (6) years or more of senior-level management experience overseeing complex financial and business operations preferably in a public sector or private utility company comparable in size and scope to SFPUC. Possession of an advanced degree and/or certification as a Certified Public Accountant is highly desirable. The starting annual salary range for the CFO position is between $202,566 to $258,466. Appointment above the starting salary range may be considered based on recruitment and exceptional skills and is subject to approval.
