The City of Cupertino is located at the west end of world-famous Silicon Valley. The City of Cupertino is seeking an experienced Public Works Director with technical expertise and strong leadership skills to effectively manage and guide the Department towards established goals. A collaborative and responsive, service-minded individual with an open communication style will be a good fit for the position. The ideal candidate will be a results-oriented individual with excellent communication and relationship-building skills. He or she will be a positive change agent and a champion of the Department’s commitment to service. A candidate with significant experience presenting to councils, commissions, and community groups, who is comfortable engaging with internal and external stakeholders at all levels on a regular basis is being sought.
At a minimum, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Civil Engineering, or a closely related field with a minimum of five (5) years of responsible supervisory or administrative work at the level of a Director or Assistant Director in a City or County Public Works Department. Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers is highly desirable. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license is also required.

The annual salary range for the Public Works Director is $220,839 - $268,431 and is dependent upon qualifications and experience. The City also offers an attractive benefits package.
