The City of Marina is located on southeast coast of Monterey Bay, approximately ten miles north of Monterey. The City of Marina is seeking a creative, gregarious, and technically experienced Community Development Director who can provide strategic planning and effective leadership for the Department. A solutions-oriented, self-motivated candidate who can analyze current operating processes, procedures, and technology usage and identify the potential for greater efficiencies and stakeholder satisfaction is desired. Candidates must exhibit excellent communication and customer service skills and demonstrate the ability to work well in a collaborative environment in which the views, contributions, and perspectives of staff are respected.
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be graduation of an accredited college or university with major coursework in public administration, urban planning, or related field; a Master’s degree and AICP membership is preferred. Qualified candidates must also possess six (6) years of progressively responsible managerial experience in a comprehensive planning within a public agency, which included three (3) years of supervisory duties.
The salary for the Community Development Director position is $10,279 - $17,546 per month; placement within this range is dependent on qualifications and experience. The City also offers a generous benefit package.
