The City of Irvine, CA is a culturally diverse city of more than 280,000 residents. This family-friendly city features more than 16,000 acres of parks, sports fields and dedicated open space and is the home of the Orange County Great Park. The City is ideally located adjacent to John Wayne/Orange County Airport and close to many of Southern California’s largest tourist attractions, numerous resorts, and some of the state’s finest beaches.
The ideal candidate will be a professional with outstanding judgment, management skills and integrity. The City Manager will have a verifiable and highly successful career with a proven record of leadership in guiding an organization, with a demonstrated comfort in a variety of municipal functions. The ideal candidate will need to be self-confident and have an open, approachable personal style. This individual must be able to provide leadership that will inspire, motivate, and empower department directors and staff to achieve the City Council’s goals. An individual with experience in culturally diverse immigrant communities is also highly desirable.
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public or Business Administration or other relevant discipline is required. Master’s degree is preferred. Experience in local government with at least five years of senior level executive management experience is strongly preferred. Prior or current experience as a City Manager, Assistant City Manager, or a combination of public and private sector executive experience will be considered favorably. California experience is a plus.
The annual salary for the City Manager is up to $313,414.00 and dependent upon qualifications.
