The City of Mt. Shasta is located in Northern California along Interstate 5 just 60 miles south of the Oregon border. This 4-season “Alpine Community” is nestled at the base of majestic Mount Shasta. Mount Shasta`s stunning presence makes this region of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest among nature`s masterpieces. Several pristine lakes, miles of rivers and streams, and thousands of acres of backcountry provide an outstanding environment for multiple summer and winter outdoor activities, and year-round splendor. The City is seeking a creative and innovative individual who employs a team approach to problem solving and is proactive in addressing issues that impact the City and the community. The City is seeking a progressive leader with a “can do” attitude. The City Manager will also have a hands-on approach to management and have frequent interaction with department directors and staff, fostering an open dialogue between staff, City Council, and all community stakeholders. The candidate will enjoy working in the public sector and appreciate the variety of contributions from all sources within the organization and from the public. The successful candidate will also promote timely, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of services to the public. Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field and eight (8) years of progressively responsible management experience in a municipal setting performing duties in an administrative capacity, including work with financial and budgetary planning and management.
