The City of Walnut Creek, with its sprawling landscapes, warm weather, upscale dining, posh shopping district, and local winery, is a suburban oasis with an urban flair. The economic and entertainment hub of Central Contra Costa County, the City is conveniently located east of San Francisco and west of Mount Diablo State Park. The City of Walnut Creek is seeking an excellent leader to serve as the Community Development Director. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and solution-oriented member of the City’s executive team. The incoming Director must possess a strong leadership ability, work to develop a cohesive team, and build support for the Department’s vision. Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university, preferably with a major in Engineering, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field; possession of a Master’s degree is highly desirable. A minimum of ten (10) years of extensive, progressively responsible administrative and supervisory experience in community development or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities is required. The annual salary range for the Community Development Director position is $168,703.86 – $233,269.92; placement within this range is dependent upon the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
