Los Angeles World Airports is currently seeking a Deputy Executive Director for Homeland Security and Law Enforcement. LAWA is a unique system of two airports (Los Angeles International and Van Nuys General Aviation) owned and operated by the City of Los Angeles, providing the core airport system for the nation`s second largest city and is the hub for one of the world`s most populous metropolitan areas. The Deputy Executive Director provides leadership management oversight, and policy direction to all law enforcement and security staff at LAWA’s airports; coordinates with other law-enforcement agencies; is responsible for counter-terrorism efforts; and oversees firefighting, emergency medical, and fire-prevention services provided by the Los Angeles Fire Department at Los Angeles International Airport. Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in the aviation security sector or have a minimum of 10 years of law enforcement and security experience at a complex local, state, or federal law enforcement or security agency at the senior executive or senior command level. An understanding of federal aviation security laws and regulations and local and state criminal laws is highly desirable. Within 90 days of appointment, the selected individual must complete and comply with the Federally required background check procedures to obtain a “Security Identification Display Area” clearance and qualify to receive a federal security clearance at the Secret or higher classification level.
