Established in 1947, the Santa Clara County Central Fire Protection District (dba: Santa Clara County Fire Department) is a dependent special district that provides fire services to a portion of Santa Clara County, California including the communities of Campbell, Cupertino, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, and Saratoga. The Department is seeking a Support Services Manager. This position will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including task force groups, committees and labor, and will be responsible for managing key relationships with vendors, service providers, and business partners, among others. A candidate with a customer service orientation and strong interpersonal skills who is collaborative, flexible, and knowledgeable in the areas of public works, utilities, and fleet and facilities management will be ideal. The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to establish direction and set vision for the Department. He or she must, therefore, be forward-thinking, smart, and articulate in order to analyze and accurately project the Department needs, staffing, and make well-supported recommendations. The minimum requirements for this position is possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in Public or Business Administration, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a closely related field; and a minimum of five (5) years of full-time administrative level experience managing a public works or similar department or division within a public agency. Experience in fleet management and building maintenance and construction and certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Program Management (CAPM), are highly desirable. Candidates must possess a valid State of California Driver’s License. As a condition of employment, the selected candidate must complete and pass a background check, Live Scan fingerprint, and psychological examination, and complete a medical examination.
